About the Commission

UPDATE: Thanks to supporters like you, we successfully reached our goal and will be debut the WORLD PREMIERE of Joseph Martin's "Sing to Me" at our spring 2019 concerts (for more information, visit www.virginiabeachchorale.org/performances).

In the spring of 2018, in honor of their 60th anniversary, the board of the Virginia Beach Chorale approved a proposal to commission a work by beloved choral composer, Joseph M. Martin.  Having performed many of Joseph M. Martin's works over the years, the Virginia Beach Chorale is excited for the opportunity to not only perform more works by this leading composer, but to bring a brand new piece of music to the Hampton Roads arts community.

The Virginia Beach Chorale is built upon its dedicated members and supporters who continue to make musical opportunities such as these possible.
