The Virginia Beach Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Don Krudop, provides musical entertainment at its best. It is one of the oldest continuously performing arts groups in Virginia Beach and is dedicated to quality performances and community service.
The Virginia Beach Civic Chorus was formed in 1958 under the direction of Charles Dawes. In July of 1978 the group changed its name from the Virginia Beach Civic Chorus to the Virginia Beach Chorale. Past directors have been Chuck Oliver, Walter Noona and Lou Sawyer.
The Virginia Beach Chorale performs a varied repertoire from classics to Broadway and rock to jazz. Each year the Chorale performs two main concerts, one during the Christmas season and one in the spring, with additional benefit performances throughout the year. Auditions for new members are held in August/September and in January of each year.
The Virginia Beach Chorale will award the first Lou Sawyer Memorial Scholarship in Music in the Spring of 2010. Read more.
